The Northern Cape Provincial Government’s Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development is our chief partner. We owe our horticultural existence to the Department’s vision of seeding the settlement of Historically Disadvantaged Individuals (HDIs) along the banks of the majestic Orange River.
The Department’s vineyard development investment to date is to the tune of R3 500 000 into the land preparation, sub-surface drainage and the construction of trellis material amongst other. The funding of our initiative is known as The Lemoendraai Wine Development Project in all books of the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.
Whilst finding ourselves nestled on the river banks, government’s quest of harmonising our existence with the allocation of water rights and infrastructure support is testimony indeed of a caring government. We also highly indebted to the Department for having successfully negotiated with Orange River Cellars for our early market entry. We now also count them in as associates and partners of the industry. Also weighing into the equation, are the many commodity groupings that we will continue to cultivate.
